Wisdom & theology of a 4 Year old
This morning i was praying for my daughter Louise on the way to drop her off to preschool. I prayed and thanked God for a great day and for the Sun keeping us warm …blah,,,blah….
This is the little conversation we had with Louise after the prayer. It went something like this…
Louise: Daddy, the sun makes us warm right!
Dad: Yes
Louise: The wind makes us cold aye daddy
Dad: yep
Louise: The rain make us wet aye daddy!
Dad: thats right
Louise: The rainbow makes us………ummm, what does the rainbow make us…..
Dad: umm……ummm…….not sure, may be it shows Gods colourful sky!
Louise: I know its shows Gods painting. He is painting the sky…..
Dad: Yes thats right!!
Louise: Gods clever!
Dad: Thats right baby!
We arrived at the preschool, i tried to unbuckle her seat belt but she insisted to do it herself and she did.
Louise: Dad I am a clever girl!
Dad: Yes you are, you did it yourself!
Louise: and thats why I think God is a girl, because she did all the things in the sky by herself.
Wow!! Dad melted!
Lesson: God is wise! I am not! I need him desperately everyday!
Theology: I am not so sure about the gender theology of the preschooler but it got me thinking of the vastness of God and his divine order of creation. Who can fathom his infinite wisdom?

God – The Trinity
On Tuesday night in our Theology – Foundation class we talked about God and the doctrine of the Trinity. Many people both Christians and non Christians still don’t believe the fact that God is three in One. The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. He is not three Gods, nor is he one God acting in three different ways. The Bible tells us that God is three different and distinct persons and that these three different and distinct persons are one in the being of God.
People have tried to describe the Trinity in different ways: a popular one is H2O. If you are a physics expert you will be familiar with the term ‘the triple point of water’. The basic nature is H2O but it can become ice when the temperature drops, it can turn to liquid when the temperature is warm and it can turn into gas when the the temperature is high. (I am no physics person).
The one I like is Neopolitan ice cream. Three in one. different colours, different flavous, discticnt from each other yet without any one of them it wouln’t be Neopolitan.
The word Trinity is not found in the Bible, but the teaching and the concept is found from Genesis to Revelation. Interesting enough the word, ‘relationship is not found in the Bible but from cover to cover the whole message is based on Gods ‘relationship’ with us.
New Series Coming Up
On of our Values as a church here at LifeChurch is ‘Relevance’. I know that’s a dirty word to some, especially those who think that in order to be relevant you need to compromise. I don’t think so! My desire is to teach/ preach the word of God without compromise. We just need to be able to relate to people’s situation, and environment. It is vital that we the church seek to communicate truth in ways that they will be able to listen, hear and understand. We need to be Relevant not Religious.
Over the next 6 months we will be teaching/ preaching on some issues we believe are relevant not only to our congregation but also to our community here in Manurewa and South Auckland.
Here are some of the themes. We are yet to finalise the Series titles.
1. The Supernatural: Angels, demons, evil, spirit world, horoscope, miraculous etc….
2. Sex: Opposite Sex, Pornography, Relationships,
3. God: Who, where, when, how etc….
4: Death: Abortions, stillborn, life after death..etc…..
I asked the church the other day during church to txt me their questions. and issues they need answers to. Over the next 6 months we will bring answers from the Word of God to those questions and issues!
I think that’s being relevant!
Lastly, on a Vision Statement #8 we say:
“We see a Church a with a clear and bold biblical message that changes lives. A message that is relevant to every situation of our lives. A message that brings restoration and healings in every relationship”.
Our Goal is Changed Lives!!
