Weekend Reflections
- LifeChurch how can I ever thank you guys for your commitment to the vision and passion to reach our community. You guys braved the dreadful weather conditions to show that you are changing the spiritual climate of Manurewa. The set up was smooth and everything went well. Ok we didn’t get the expected number but thats Ok. It was only the kick off. The best is yet to come.
- A horrible weather on Saturday afternoon. A separate weekend storms. I later found out that 5 people were killed over the weekend as a result of the storm.
- Saturday night I was so sick with the flu and I had to prepare for Sunday morning. I prayed God please give me a message, a revelation, a word in season.
- I wanted so much to watch the All Blacks play Australia. I missed the last two All Black games.
- Went to bed, around 1:30am cold and tired, dreaming of a sandy beach somewhere in the Bahamas with my wife. Its Ok to dream!!
- 5:30am I woke up and felt like staying in bed all day. I had to encourage myself to get over MYSELF.
- Read 2 Timothy 2. and it gave me courage. I was all fired up to go preach after that.
- In both services i preached my heart out and I too was blessed with the Word.
- Had a good quite night with the family watching TV. I made my special pancakes for supper
Warning: A nasty storm!
When I switched on my computer this morning, I was greeted by emails about storm warnings. MetService expects the Auckland region to be hit by a severe storm between midday Saturday (Today) and midday Sunday. This is the warning…….”This is no ordinary storm. It’s one of the largest and deepest lows we’ve seen for some years,” MetService spokesman Peter Kreft says. “By the time this system reaches northern New Zealand on Saturday, it is likely to have significant destructive potential. The real issue will be the wind, with gusts of more than 110km/h expected,” he says.
I am not sure whether to laugh or get angry. I am thinking of our church folks setting up this morning one of our biggest events of this year. Today is the launch of 40 Days of Community. I am thinking of people planning to come and all the kids looking forward to a great afternoon programmme. We dropped off 23,000 flyers to every mailbox in Manurewa. Radio and Newspaper ads and we are expecting a big crowd and this weather is not going to deterr us from doing what we believe will transform lives and make an impact in our community. In February this year we had another community event – The Prayer Vigil. 6 Hours before kick off, the Met Service put out a ‘Severe Storm Warning’. Over 300 people turned up that night and the Prayer Vigil was a success. And now another Storm warning. Like King Jehosophat I am praying “Lord we do not know what to do but our eyes are upon you”
New Pastor in Town
Today I met with Pastor Stewart Hanna the new Senior Pastor for Manurewa Baptist Church. Cool guy, his heart is in the right place and has a wide kingdom perspective. With many years of experience in Pastoral Leadership and church planting I am sure he will be a blessing to MBC and the church here in Manurewa. I connected really well with him (after 1/2 hour of trying to find each other in the right Mall) and I’m looking forward to serve along side him in building the kingdom of God in Manurewa and Manukau City.
I think MBC have the right guy for the job! All the best Ste! and yeah Welcome to Rewa!

Operation Love Manurewa
Here is another crazy Idea. It will please the heart of God and bless people. Operation Love Manurewa will provide families in Manurewa who are struggling to put food on the table. We are relying on the generosity of the general public and businesses to help with this project. If you would like to sponsor a food parcel please get in contact with me and I will email you all the details you need. The project will happen on the 16th of August as part of the 40 Days of Community Campaign. Blessings
8 Nights of Praying for Manurewa
Last Sunday we concluded a week of praying for Manurewa. The local churches of Manurewa and Manukau gathered is different locations praying for our community. LifeChurch’s turn was on Wednesday Night and prayed around the Southmall Shopping area. I think it was the coldest night of winter so far but still some crazy for Jesus people still came to pray.
