Day 17 – 40 DOC – Respect

I grew up in an environment were respect was paramount. It was regarded as part of our culture. Respect for the elders/leaders, respect for the language, respect for the environment, respect for customs, respect for females and so on. I am grateful for that upringing and especially for my dad who instilled in me those values. The Bible talks a lot about respect. Respect is more than a cultural thing. It is a Biblical virtue. And if we have a correct perspective of God and His for us then we will apply Biblical respect to our leaders/elders, the language we use, our environment and our community. Respect is a lost value in todays society. Thats why young people tag fences and other people properties. people rob and rape, people swear and use foul language, detroy and careless with environment. Romans 12:10B. “Excel in showing respect for each other”.
